MORE INFORMATION
Wouldn't it be great to have your family talking about issues of faith in a fun, natural way? Wouldn't it be great if your family could pray for every country in the world, for all sorts of compassionate concerns, and for missions, missionaries, and other ministries? And, wouldn't it be great to learn together how to praise God without just saying the same words over and over again? How about thanking God for all sorts of things that we appreciate – but rarely think about how they benefit our lives? And top that off by remembering to pray for all of the people who are important to your family.
That's what can happen if you use the Great Faith Conversations and Prayer Tool Kit. The Kit will help you communicate with each other. And, it will help you communicate with God.
Communicating with one another and with God. That's very important communication!
The Prayer Grids were designed to help your family enjoy praying together – often. The grids can quickly give everyone something important to pray about every night the family can eat together or anytime the family can gather all together. As a professional mental health therapist, I know that eating together as a family is right at the top of the priorities for a sense of security.
One of the big family prayer killers is always praying the same things over and over again. Prayers become repetitive and meaningless. They are said, but the personal aspect of talking to a personal God is lost. Note how we usually avoid people when we don't know what to say to them. Well, it can be the same with God. The Kit's Prayer Grids solve this problem of what to say. The six grids, actually eight since there are two Thankful Grids and two World Prayer Grids, give a family 800 things to pray about.
My suggestion for using these six prayer grids is to hand one or two of them to each family member for a time of prayer. (I suggest that the Praise Prayer Grid be first given to a parent or older teen.) Then, roll the ten-sided die for two numbers as directed on the instruction sheet. Then, use that set of numbers for all six grids. If a 6 is rolled and then a 9, then everyone goes to that cell selection on each of their grids. During prayer, each family member leads the family for what is in his or her selection.
Remember that prayer is a conversation with God. It doesn't have to be just asking for things. In fact, it shouldn't be. Imagine if Jesus sat down in your living room with your family – I mean if you could see Him. Would everyone just fire one request after another at Him? I hope not. Yet, that is what most prayer looks like. But, instead, if Jesus was with you visually in your living room, it would be much more natural to tell Him how you feel, what you are thinking about, what you are doing – much as my grandsons do when they come to visit me. Furthermore, it would be wise to ask Jesus what He feels and thinks about things – all sorts of things. For example, you could ask the Lord what he thinks of every one of the 1500 items in The Great Faith Conversations & Prayer Tool Kit.
